Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS), acting on behalf of the Ministry for Culture, is thrilled to announce the successful completion of extensive refurbishment works across various cultural facilities in Gibraltar. These improvements aim to enhance accessibility, safety, and the overall cultural experience for the community.
Central Hall Upgrades:
Significant enhancements at the Central Hall include the installation of disabled toilet facilities, a dedicated storage shed, and the introduction of a new electronic door at the venue’s entrance. These improvements not only contribute to the accessibility of the space but also provide additional conveniences for the visitors.
Revitalized Jumpers Bastion:
Jumpers Bastion underwent resurfacing works and the implementation of a new drainage system. These upgrades are designed to ensure a safer environment for users, addressing both accessibility and flooring concerns. The improvements align with the commitment to creating cultural spaces that prioritize safety and comfort.
Ince’s Hall Facade Refurbishment:
In collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and the Gibraltar Heritage Trust, the façades at Ince’s Hall have undergone a significant transformation. The refurbishment included the installation of new guttering pipes, unveiling existing arches, incorporating doors and swift boxes, and a fresh coat of paint. This meticulous restoration aligns with the preservation of heritage and cultural identity.
The Honorable Christian Santos GMD MP, Minister for Culture, expressed his gratitude to the GCS team, contractors, Gibraltar Heritage Trust, and the Ministry of Heritage for their unwavering support. He acknowledged the continuation of the refurbishment program as a testament to the government’s commitment to state-of-the-art cultural facilities. Minister Santos stated, “It is important for the Government to have state-of-the-art cultural facilities. We will continue to design and roll out a comprehensive program of refurbishment to all our cultural venues, as well as creating new cultural spaces for our clubs, societies, cultural groups, musicians, and artists.”
