Eco Festival 2023, presented by OTWO Magazine, was a resounding success in promoting sustainability within the community. Over the course of two enriching days, on September 23rd and 24th, at the Europa Pool, this eco-conscious extravaganza brought together over 500 attendees who rallied behind the cause of environmental responsibility.
Vanessa Byrne, Director of OTWO Magazine, shared her perspective on the importance of such events, stating, “Our second experience in organizing Eco Festival reaffirms our unwavering commitment to sustainability. We believe that these events are essential for our community and the environment.”
Sustainability was the guiding principle behind Eco Festival 2023. Its success was made possible through the support of dedicated sponsors who demonstrated their commitment to eco-friendly practices. ISOLAS, Wastage Products Ltd., The Energy Vision Group, and the Ecological Efficiency Centre played pivotal roles, not just in enabling the festival but in showcasing the corporate world’s responsibility in environmental preservation.
The success of Eco Festival 2023 was also a result of the collaboration with partners who played a role in making this event a reality. The Department of the Environment, Vigilant Security, ATM, Eco Décor, Fresh Entertainment, Gib Scaffolding, Gibmaroc Ltd., and Metalrok Ltd. came together to ensure the festival’s smooth execution.
The heart of the festival was its diverse lineup of live music performances. Artists like No Limits, Eddie Cartwright, Della Slade, Mantra, Briana Crome, Nicky Borda, Jesse Sampere, Eve Belilo, Andria and James, Heritage, and DECODE graced the stage, infusing the event with both celebration and eco-awareness.
Vibrant markets offered sustainable shopping while supporting small-scale, eco-conscious businesses. In the commercial area, eco-responsible businesses took center stage, emphasizing that sustainability is an integral part of daily life. Eco Passion, Backing the Planet, and E-Gear were among the businesses that showcased their eco-friendly products and services. E-Gear even provided attendees with the opportunity to test electric scooters, promoting cleaner transportation alternatives. Beyond entertainment and shopping, the festival embodied community spirit and philanthropy. Vanessa Byrne underscored this ethos, noting, “We believe that green events should not only celebrate sustainability but also actively contribute to our community.”
After the festival’s conclusion, all food products that remained after Eco Festival 2023 have been donated to the Clubhouse, supporting the community, and minimizing waste.
Eco Festival 2023 served as a compelling example of how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into our lives, all while enjoying a fantastic time. Vanessa Byrne and the entire OTWO Magazine team, in collaboration with their sponsors and partners, made it clear: organizing green events isn’t just a choice; it’s a responsibility. With the collective support of individuals and businesses, the path to a greener future becomes all the more attainable.
Adding to the festival’s significance were the esteemed guests who graced the occasion. Miss Gibraltar, Faith Torres, added glamour and support to the event, emphasizing the importance of eco-consciousness. Furthermore, the presence of distinguished figures such as Minister of Transport, Paul Balban, and Minister of Environment, John Cortes, along with their families, highlighted the festival’s broader significance in promoting sustainable practices within Gibraltar. Their participation underscored the festival’s impact not only within the community but also at the governmental level, reaffirming the urgency of green initiatives.
Eco Festival 2023 was a remarkable celebration of sustainability, where environmental consciousness met entertainment, shopping, and community involvement. With its impressive lineup of artists, eco-friendly markets, and responsible businesses, the event succeeded in making the case that sustainability is not only necessary but also enjoyable. As Vanessa Byrne stated, “We look forward to continuing our efforts to make the world a greener and more eco-conscious place in the years to come.” The festival served as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that with collective efforts, a sustainable future is within reach.
